Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Emerals S.R.L. (hereinafter "Emerals", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies on the website emerals.it and its sub-sections (the "Site"). It complements the Privacy Policy, to which you should refer for any further detail on the processing of personal data.
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that websites save on the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone) during browsing. They allow the Site to function, to remember certain preferences and, in some cases, to collect statistical information.
In addition to cookies, we use similar technologies such as the browser's localStorage and sessionStorage: these are areas of local memory on the device where the Site can store information (for example the contents of the shopping cart) without automatically sending it to the server on every request. In this document, for simplicity, the term "cookie" also covers these equivalent technologies.
Cookies can be:
- first-party, when they are set directly by Emerals;
- third-party, when they are set by other parties (for example providers of services integrated into the Site);
- session cookies, when they are deleted on closing the browser;
- persistent cookies, when they are stored for a defined period.
Categories of cookies used
In line with the guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante), we distinguish three categories of cookies. Necessary cookies are always active; functional and statistical cookies are installed only with the user's prior consent.
1. Necessary cookies (always active)
These cookies are essential for the correct functioning of the Site and to provide the services requested by the user (authentication, cart management, storing cookie choices). No consent is required for them, as they are strictly necessary under the applicable rules.
| Cookie/technology name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Maintains the user's authenticated session after login | Session duration / until the login expires | First-party |
| OAuth state and PKCE cookies (e.g. state/verifier parameters for login with Discord, Google, Twitch) | Ensure the security of the external authentication flow and prevent CSRF attacks | Session (temporary, deleted at the end of login) | First-party |
| emerals_consent | Stores the user's cookie choices (consent or refusal per category) and their version and date | About 180 days | First-party |
| localStorage: cart | Keeps the items added to the cart across pages | Persistent until emptied or manually cleared | First-party |
| localStorage: Tebex basket | Keeps the reference to the basket created at Tebex to complete the purchase | Persistent until completion or clearing | First-party / Third-party (Tebex) |
2. Functional cookies (with prior consent)
They improve the user experience by remembering certain preferences. They are installed only if the user gives consent and can be disabled at any time.
| Cookie/technology name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language preference | Remembers the selected language (Italian or English) for later visits | Persistent | First-party |
| discount_modal_shown | Indicates that a given promotional pop-up has already been shown, to avoid showing it again | Persistent | First-party |
3. Statistical cookies (with prior consent)
They are used to collect aggregated information about the use of the Site (for example the pages visited) for statistical purposes and to improve the service.
At present no statistics or analytics tool is active. The Site is technically prepared to integrate analysis tools in the future (for example Google Analytics): should this happen, such tools will be loaded only with the user's prior consent and this Cookie Policy will be updated accordingly.
| Cookie/technology name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| (none active) | Provision for future analytics, loaded only with prior consent | — | Third-party (future) |
Tawk.to live chat
The Site integrates a live-chat support service provided by Tawk.to. This service is third-party: it sets its own cookies and processes data such as the IP address, device information and the contents of the conversation, in accordance with its own policy.
By the Owner's choice, the live chat is currently classified as a necessary tool and is therefore always active. A user who does not wish to activate this processing may simply not use the chat and contact us through the other channels indicated (for example by email). We reserve the right to move this service to the functional cookies (subject to consent) in a future version.
How to manage or withdraw consent
The user can change or withdraw their cookie choices at any time:
- through the "Cookie preferences" button/link in the footer of the Site, which reopens the preference management panel, where each category can be enabled or disabled (except the necessary ones);
- through the browser settings, which allow you to block or delete cookies already installed. Disabling necessary cookies may, however, impair the functioning of the Site.
The consent given is stored together with its date and version. After about 6 months, consent is requested again; it is also requested again if the categories or purposes are updated.
The main guides for managing cookies in the most common browsers are available in the respective support sections of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari and Opera.
Cookies and third-party services
Some services integrated into the Site may set their own cookies or process data according to their own policies. The main ones are listed below, with the relevant references:
- Tebex (payment and purchase management — Merchant of Record): Tebex privacy policy
- Discord (authentication and community): Discord privacy policy
- Google (authentication and, prospectively, statistics): Google privacy policy
- Twitch (authentication): Twitch privacy policy

For details on the processing of personal data, on the user's rights and on retention periods, please refer to the Privacy Policy.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We reserve the right to update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in legislation or in the services used. Updated versions will be published on this page with the relevant last-updated date.
